Blackbeard is an alternative investment manager with a value-oriented contrarian investment style,
specialising in global emerging markets credit. We design and manage strategies intended to provide
equity-like positive returns with
credit-like risk profile.
Blackbeard invests in various asset classes globally but with a strong emphasis on distressed credit and
high-yield fixed income securities in the emerging markets.
We invest alongside our clients and take a disciplined and responsible
approach to seeking positive outcomes.
Blackbeard is authorised and regulated by the Cyprus Securities and
Exchange Commission as an AIFM, license
no.: AIFM62/56/2013 dd. 29/04/2024. The AIFM authorization covers the Investment Management Functions in
accordance with Section 6(5) of the AIFM Law.
Blackbeard invests in global emerging markets public and private fixed income assets. We invest primarily in
rated and non-rated corporate emerging markets credit, which is commonly issued in the form of high-yield
notes, leveraged and / or private debt, convertible securities, and structured notes.
We employ a disciplined and responsible investment approach with risk mitigation measures seeking to achieve
positive outcomes for sophisticated investors over various economic cycles.
Value Focus
The strategy invests primarily in the listed fixed income notes and private credit of sub-investment grade corporate and sovereign issuers (excluding banks), that experience temporary liquidity stress and trade at discounts to their fundamental value. We seek to participate in the liability management process to restore the issuer’s financial viability and therefore materially recover the value of an underlying credit instrument.
